The Desert is Quiet

Added on October 4, 2011 by Guest User.

Format: video with audio
Running time: 1 min 50 sec
Summary: This is a very short video about being or not being quiet.

Transcript

I like the desert. It's quiet. Being here makes me realize how noisy life usually is. The rumble of cars. The whir of your computer. The buzz of electricity. But, what are we missing? The sounds of animals. Plants. Dirt. Wind. Our breath. Our mind. Hmm. Can we really know peace when our surroundings are never peaceful?

"In a world dedicated to distraction, silence and stillness terrify us." - Sogyal Rinpoche
